چکیده

We report the discovery of a starburst-driven wind (superwind) from the starburst nucleus galaxy Mrk 1259. The estimated number ratio of Wolf-Rayet (WR) to O stars amounts to ≃ 0.09. While the nuclear emission-line region is due to usual photoionization by massive stars, the circumnuclear emission-line regions show anomalous line ratios that can be due to cooling shocks. Since the host galaxy seems to be a face-on disk galaxy and the excitation conditions of the circumnuclear emission-line regions show the spatial symmetry, we consider that we are seeing the superwind nearly from a pole-on view. Cooling shock models may explain the observed emission line ratios of the circumnuclear regions although a factor of 2 overabundance of nitrogen is necessary. All these suggest that the high-mass enhanced starburst occurred ∼ 5× 10 years ago in the nuclear region of Mrk 1259.

We report results of CO (J = 1-0) mapping observations of the Wolf-Rayet starburst galaxy Mrk 1259 which has optical evidence for the superwind seen from a nearly pole-on view. The CO emission is detected in the central 4 kpc region. The nuclear CO spectrum shows a blue-shifted (∆V ≃ −27 km s) broad (FWHM ≃ 114 km s) component as well as the narrow one (FWHM ≃ 68 km s). The off-nuclear CO spect...

We report the discovery of two new Wolf-Rayet (WR) galaxies: Mrk 1039, and F08208+2816. Two broad WR bumps at 5808Å and 4650Å indicate the presence of WCE and WNL star population in all two sources. We also confirm the presence of WR features in Mrk 35, previously detected in a different position. The observed equivalent width of the WR bump at 4650Å and the derived number ratios of WR/(WR+O) i...

3D spectroscopy of merger Seyfert galaxy Mrk 334: nuclear starburst, superwind and the circumnuclear cavern

We are presenting new results on kinematics and structure of the Mrk 334 Seyfert galaxy. Panoramic (3D) spectroscopy is performed at the 6-m telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences using the MPFS integral-field spectrograph and scanning Fabry–Pérot interferometer. The deep images have revealed that Mrk 334 is observed during the final stage of its m...

The Starburst - Interstellar Medium Interaction in NGC 1569 I . Location and Nature of He ii Sources

We present the detection of He ii sources in the Im galaxy NGC 1569 from HST WFPC2 imagery. Out of the fifteen detections, seven were Wolf-Rayet stars, five were stellar clusters with associated He ii emission, and three were sources of unknown origin. The detected Wolf-Rayet stars’ colors and magnitudes are similar to Large Magellanic Cloud late-type WN stars. The physical origin of the other ...

ISO observations of the Wolf - Rayet galaxies NGC 5430 , NGC 6764 , Mrk 309 and VII Zw 19 ⋆

Observations of four WR galaxies (NGC 5430, NGC 6764, Mrk 309 and VII Zw 19) using the Infrared Space Observatory are presented here. ISOCAM maps of NGC 5430, Mrk 309 and NGC 6764 revealed the location of star formation regions in each of these galaxies. ISOPHOT spectral observations from 4 to 12 µm detected the ubiquitous PAH bands in the nuclei of the targets and several of the disk star form...
